97 total records76 verified listings21 unresolved candidates

Source review checked 13 October 2026. This is a growing evidence-led inventory, not a complete census: there is no single UK register covering every private, public, seasonal and volunteer-run trail. “Verified listing” confirms a linked source identifies the place as an MTB venue or route; it does not guarantee that every trail is open today. Unresolved candidates are kept visible and are not permission to ride. Check the linked operator or land manager before travelling. This directory does not imply a venue partnership or live availability.

Auditable directory notes · checked 13 October 2026

Mountain-bike coverage register

This register audits the source methods behind the directory. Each venue card retains its own source links and record-level check date. “Verified listing” means the cited source supports the place as an MTB venue or route; it does not confirm live opening, every trail, or permission beyond the operator or land manager’s stated terms.

Research methods

  1. Compared the four national public-land-manager catalogues for named cycling and mountain-bike sites.
  2. Used council, governing-body and operator pages to verify individual facilities and published access details where available.
  3. Used commercial and community MTB finders only to discover leads. A lead stays an unresolved candidate until a current operator or authority source supports it.
  4. Recorded source links and check dates on each listing; live trail status, temporary closures and full national completeness are not inferred.

England

35 verified11 candidates

35 verified listings and 11 unresolved candidates appear in this register. Source-led sample; not a county-by-county census of public, commercial, volunteer or seasonal venues.

Research method · checked 13 October 2026

Reviewed Forestry England’s national catalogue and selected local authority, club and operator sources. Current record counts are calculated from the directory entries shown above.

Known coverage gaps

Independent parks, temporary practice sites, volunteer clubs and all local trail-status feeds are not comprehensively covered.
